Creating your first post

How to create your first post on Resurface
Updated on Tuesday 13, Mar 2018

To create your first post, login to Resurface and make sure you've connected to at least one social profile. For help on connecting your Resurface account to a social profile, please refer to the how-to guides.

Once you're logged in, click on the "Create post" link at the top of the Resurface dashboard, then you'll see the main create post page:

The first thing you have to do is select which social profiles you want to publish this post to. For this example we're going to post to Facebook and Twitter, so we'll select those two from the drop down:

As you can see, once you've selected the social profiles, you'll see the text area where you'll be able to enter your message. You'll also see the previews on the right for each social network that you're going to publish to.

By default, the bulk editor is selected, this is useful if you're going to publish the same message to each network. However you can turn this off by using the toggle button above the text area. If you turn off the bulk editor you'll see a text input for each social profile, allowing you to customise your message.

For this example we're going to use the bulk editor and type in our message:

As you type in your message, the previews will update automatically:

Great, now we've got our content sorted out, it's time to set how our post will be scheduled and published to our selected social profiles

In this example, we're really going to push this post onto our social profiles, so what we're going to do is:

  • Publish it now
  • Publish it in 30 mins, then in an hour
  • Add it to our "Interesting links" content queue and configure it to republish up to a maximum of three times

Luckily Resurface makes this easy, we've built it around the idea of a publishing policy. It basically determines when your content will be published to your social profiles.

To see this in action, let's add our first policy - publish this post straight away. Click on the "Post now" button, and you'll see the "Post now" policy applied to this post:

Now let's add another policy to publish this in 30 mins, then in an hour. Use the drop down next to where it says "Add policy" and choose "Post at specified times". Use the form to add the times you want to publish at. In this example we've choose 5.30pm and 6pm:

When you've finished adding the dates and times you want to publish on, click the "Save dates" button to save your changes. You'll now see two policies listed for this post:

Great, we're making progress! Now we also want to add this post to a Content Queue so that it'll be automatically republished based on Content Queue's schedule. As before use the policy drop down and select "Queue post", you'll see this form:

Now choose the Content Queue, we're going to use "Interesting links". For this example we're going to make this post automatically republish itself, so let's toggle the evergreen button and set 3 as the maximum amount of times we want to republish this post:

Awesome, now just click on "Add" and we're finished setting up our post. All our three content policies will be listed:

That's it! Once you click on "Finish & create post", it will be published straight away, then at 5.30pm & 6pm, and it'll be added to the interesting links content queue where it'll be published and republished a maximum of three times.

Using these features, Resurface provides a powerful way of scheduling and automating your social profiles.
